Do you want radiant skin without the harsh chemicals? It might be time to switch to hydrosols. These pure, distilled plant waters are gentle yet effective, packing a therapeutic punch that your skin—and your mood—will absolutely love.
What Exactly is a Hydrosol?
I know, most of you have never heard of a hydrosol. Think of it as the "soul" of the plant in liquid form. According to Jeanne Rose, Founder of the Aromatic Plant Project, when defining a hydrosol states:
"... the aromatic non-alcoholic distillate left from the distillation process of organically grown plants that contains water-soluble parts of the plant material and micro-drops of the essential oil." [1]
Because they are naturally acidic, they perfectly match your skin’s pH, helping to restore your "acid mantle" and lock in moisture instantly. [2]
Aromatherapy for the Skin: The "Scent-Brain" Connection
We all understand aromatherapy—the way a scent can instantly shift your mood. When you mist a hydrosol, those aromatic molecules hit your olfactory system, creating an immediate emotional response. It’s a 10-second "reset" for your nervous system.
You aren’t just toning your face; you are giving your brain a breath of calm.
The TNB Collection: Which "Character" Do You Need?
Every drop of our hydrosols comes from plants grown right here on our certified organic farm. I don’t source.
I harvest and distill them myself to ensure total "farm-to-bottle" purity.

- Be Calm: The "Workday Rescue." This signature blend of Lemon Balm and English Lavender is a softer version of lavender, perfect for those who find pure lavender too "loud." It’s the ultimate "Take Your Hydrosol to Work Day" companion for stressful meetings, deadlines, or nervous flyers.
- Rose Geranium: The Bold Big Sister. If Rose is the quiet middle child, Rose Geranium is her bold, unapologetic big sister. This is my #1 choice for a facial toner. It gives the skin a glow and is a lifesaver for "overheating"—whether from the sun or a hot flash.
- Rose: The Elegant Humectant. Light and perfectly balanced. Rose is a master at drawing moisture into the skin. It’s a soft, hydrated "hug" for aging or dry skin. (Learn more about the benefits of Rose Hydrosol.)
- Lavender: The Soft Whisper. Forget the brash, medicinal lavender you find in stores. Ours is soft, floral, and rounded—a gentle "unwind" in a bottle to soothe dry skin and quiet a busy mind before bed.
- Lemon Balm: The Subtle Calmer. The perfect choice for people who dislike lavender but want that "breath of calm." This light, citrus-green mist is a hero for "frayed nerves" and "cranky skin" (like rashes or irritation).
- Freakin Awesome Boo-Boo: The Relief Mist. The Swiss Army knife of hydrosols. I reach for this to soothe skin after a run-in with a briar patch, but it’s also wonderful for "cranky" joints, seasonal sniffles, or a dull headache.
The Distiller’s Standard: Certified Organic Purity
I am transitioning my entire line to be Certified Organic. To maintain this level of purity, I am phasing out even eco-cert preservatives. What this means for you: Because these are "living" waters without harsh chemicals, they are best kept in the refrigerator. Not only does this keep the botanical properties potent, but the cold mist feels incredible on inflamed skin or during a hot flash!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is a hydrosol the same as a toner? A: Yes, but better! Most toners use alcohol and synthetics. A hydrosol is a single-ingredient plant active that balances your skin's pH naturally while delivering nutrients.
Why does my hydrosol smell "earthy" instead of like perfume? A: Because it’s real! A Rose hydrosol should smell like the whole flower—greenery and all. That earthy scent is proof of the plant's minerals and acids.
How do I use the "Freakin' Boo-Boo Spray" for discomfort? A: Simply spray it directly onto the area of pain or irritation. Pro-tip: Keep this one in the refrigerator. The combination of the active botanicals and the cold spray works significantly better to soothe inflammation and provide instant relief.
I have a very stressful job; which one should I keep at my desk? A: Be Calm was made for you. It provides an immediate olfactory "reset" during a stressful day without being overwhelming.
How do I store my organic hydrosol? A: To keep your organic hydrosol fresh and stable, we recommend keeping it in the refrigerator. Think of it like fresh produce—it's at its best when kept cool! However, if you feel you will forget about it, keep it in a cool place out of the light, check periodically to see if anything is swirling inside. If so, this means the hydrosol bloomed and feed it to your soil or compost.
How long do the hydrosols last? Six months if you store outside the refrigerator and one year in the refrigerator. If you wish to keep it longer, please always check to make sure it has not "bloomed." (See the FAQ above.)
