Why Ours?

When creating our elderberry tonic, we decided on a specific manufacturing protocol:

  • Our elderberry tonic stands out due to its unique features. It's not just another health product but a super concentrated blend that uses as little water as possible, unlike many other products that use water to rehydrate dried berries. We seek to ensure you get the maximum potency and benefits of Elderberry in every sip.
  • Second, we would only use fresh or frozen berries, never dried berries. Our tonic contains over half a pound of berries in each bottle. Why? We dried ours in the past and saw how much juice was left on the drying sheets, compromising the amount of actual elderberry juice you receive in your products.
  • Third, we decided to use maple syrup rather than honey, which is acceptable for vegans. This choice also ensures the product's shelf life. Unopened, our tonic can be stored for over a year, making it a convenient option if you want to stock up. Once opened, the bottle needs to be refrigerated.
  • Please use the tonic within three to six months. Store in the refrigerator, not the side of the fridge. If we had used honey, the bottle would need to be immediately refrigerated, or the heat required to make the tonic shelf stable with honey would ruin its beneficial properties.

Taste?

Elderberry continues to ferment in the bottle, so at 3 to 6 months, it may have a more acidic taste. You can add more maple syrup to sweeten it or use it unless you see mold in the container. When in doubt, give it to your plants outside,

How to Store

Store in the refrigerator once you open it and then use within 3 months from opening.

Pro Tip!

Here are some suggestions on how to use this syrup.

  • Add a teaspoon or more to yogurt, granola, ice cream, or any food you like
  • Drink 1 teaspoon as a shot each day
  • Add a teaspoon to your smoothie
  • Add some when you are baking.
  • Create your own mocktail or cocktail using the shot. You are only limited by your imagination!  Consider rimming the glass with one of our herbal salt blends.

      FAQs

Do You have a brick and mortar store?

We don't. However, some of our products are in various stores. Please view our Find Us page for stores in the area. Also, consider signing up for our newsletter so you will be the first to know new store locations.

      Are Your Products Certified Organic

Our Farm is certified organic. Most of our products are certified organic.

      • The hydrosols are not certified organic because we use an eco-cert preservative, which can breed bacteria without it. There isn't any approved USDA organic preservative for skincare. The USDA views hydrosols as water and, in my case, as water and preservatives. Sadly, in their mind, the product is basically a preservative, an unauthorized ingredient. Consequently, despite using organic herbs, the final formulation is not organic.
      • Our apple products are, for the most part, not certified organic because we had our certified organic apples made into cider at a non-organic cider mill. There are no USDA-certified organic cider mills in the area. We are starting to make our own cider in-house, so certified organic apple-based products will be available.
      • Our salves are transitioning to certified organic ingredients as we use up our pre-certified herbal oils. Order more so we can transition all of them!

      Do Your Teas Contain Caffeine?

No. None of our teas contain caffeine. We only sell herbal teas that do not contain caffeine.

How Do You Brew Your Tea?

Boil water and steep for 10 minutes; the longer the steep, the better. We cut our leaves larger than ordinary tea leaves to retain freshness, so you need to seep the leaves longer. The tea will not get bitter if you let it brew longer. It might turn cold, which is delicious as well.

Does Your Teas Contain Sugar or Honey or Natural or Artificial Flavors or Extracts?

None of our teas contain sugar, honey, artificial or natural flavors, or extracts. We don't need them since our herbal teas are so fresh. However, you are welcome to add any sweetness of your choice; we offer our farm honey periodically, so check the website for availability.

      Does Your Products Contain Sugar?

Only two products contain unrefined organic sugar: Chai Spiced Apple Simple Syrup and Rose Hibiscus Simple Syrup.

To preserve the product in your refrigerator, we need to add sugar. We only add about 30% of the volume of each bottle. It is a lower amount compared to most simple syrups on the market.

We also make the product shelf stable. We cannot use honey since high heat to make a product shelf stable destroys the beneficial properties of honey. Using sugar allows us to sell to stores plus use less sugar.

If we were to sell to stores without making the syrups shelf stable, we would have to use about 70% sugar, or the product would need to be refrigerated.

The Elderberry Tonic and Apple Ginger Turmeric Shots both contain maple syrup. Again, we worked hard to achieve a sugar level of 20% to 30% in each product.

Please read the Nutrition labels for all the products to ensure you can ingest them.

      What is a Hydrosol?

      What Are Hydrosols?

Hydrosols are the water part when plants or flowers are steam distilled to make essential oil. The resulting floral water, with the same plant monogram, is incredibly gentle on your body. While some people use them internally, we only make them for external use, ensuring your safety and comfort.

      How Are Hydrosols Made?

At our Farm, we craft all our hydrosols using fresh, farm-harvested materials. The herbs and flowers are steam-distilled in a cooper alchemy. (You can witness the process HERE with a lemon balm distillation video.)

In the case of lavender, the distillation of freshly picked lavender buds creates the hydrosol. Once we distilled the hydrosol, we stored it in airtight glass containers and refrigerated it until it was sold.

We enhance the shelf life of our hydrosols by adding a 3% eco-cert preservative, Leudical Liquid SF. We choose this preservative for its safety and effectiveness. As mentioned earlier, our hydrosols are designed for external use only.

      Which One Should I Buy?

Watch our hydrosol product video to learn about the different hydrosols we offer. You can watch it HERE.

      Recommended Storage:

The product comes in a glass container with a spray top. We recommend refrigerating hydrosols for a longer shelf life (approximately one year). However, it has a preservative, so you don't have to refrigerate. Lack of refrigeration shortens its life to six months.

Do not touch the liquid inside the bottle. You can contaminate the hydrosol.
